Sanodure® Grey HLN Liquid
Homogeneous, water soluble dyestuff for the adsorptive dyeing of anodized aluminium.
Sanodure® Grey HLN Liquid is distinguished by its neutral grey shade, very good light fastness and
high fastness to heat.
Only recommended for interior use.
1. Dye-specific properties
Commercial form: black liquid
Nuance: neutral grey

Solubility: unlimited in water
Ecotoxicological data: see Safety Data Sheet.
2. Application conditions
Concentration, dyeing temperature and time
Concentration Dyeing temperature Dyeing time
Pale grey shades 0.1 - 0.5 g/l 20 - 30°C 10 - 20 min
Medium grey shades 0.5 - 1.0 g/l 20 - 30°C 10 - 20 min
Dark grey shades 1.0 - 5.0 g/l 25 - 60°C 20 - 40 min

Buffer: The dyebaths are preferably buffered with
8 g/l sodium acetate trihydrate
+ 0.4 ml/l acetic acid 100%.
Dyeing: For faultless, homogeneous results, we recommend carrying out
the dyeings in an agitated dyebath.
Water quality: preferably deionized
Sealing: preferably with Anodal® ASL (one or two stage).
3. Preparation of the dyebath
As the dye is available in dissolved form the dyebath can be set or strengthened by simply
adding the dye.
4. Lightfastness of the dyeings (ISO 2135)
pale grey shades : rating 5 - 6
medium grey shades : rating 6 - 7
dark grey shades : rating 7 - 8
very dark grey shades : rating > 8
5. Special remarks
- Unsealed dyeing can be skipped with nitric acid.
- The dyebaths are sensitive to sulphate; anodized objects should therefore be
rinsed thoroughly before dyeing.
- Prevention of mould formation :
An addition of an antimicrobial product can inhibit mould formation for a long time.
We recommend the addition of Nipacide CI 15(See Technical Information) 25 – 50 mg/l.
6. Disposal of spent dyebaths
Spent dyebaths must be disposed of with Anodal® WT-1 Liquid. The precipitation method is
described in the Technical Information bulletin for Anodal® WT-1 Liquid.
The table below gives the dosages necessary for precipitating Sanodure® Grey HLN Liquid:
